The Power of Belonging

Ireland's Active Cities approach with Dublin and Waterford

The Active Cities program is a national Irish initiative that helps cities create healthier, more connected communities through physical activity, partnership working and inclusive local engagement. By bringing together local authorities, community organisations, health partners and residents, the Active Cities program aims to make active living a natural part of everyday life while strengthening social connections and community wellbeing.

In this webinar, representatives of Dublin and Waterford will share how they are putting these principles into practice. Through their own experiences, successes and challenges, they will offer valuable insights into community building, citizen engagement and creating active places where people feel they belong. Together, we will explore what other European cities can learn from the Irish approach, and whether the Active Cities program could serve as a blueprint for stronger communities across Europe.
