“The added value of the ESWAM for the city of Rotterdam lies mainly in exchanging knowledge and gaining inspiration. After all, as cities we are not competitors, but we pursue the same goals. International examples can provide a new, fresh look at problems or appropriate solutions. We will use the network in our ambition to become a ‘Global Active City’. It is therefore relevant for the city of Rotterdam that there are cities in this network of a comparable size, in which we can both provide and obtain knowledge.”
“At the Copenhagen City Council, we see the ESWAM as a platform to offer municipalities the opportunity to exchange best practices, form European partnerships and access valuable EU project opportunities, all within a trusted community of forward-thinking peers. I recommend you to join this growing alliance and contribute to shaping a more active, healthy and vital society”

Upcoming events
March 4 | "GAME ON, CITY HALL" | ONLINE
Esports is rapidly moving from bedroom hobby to mainstream culture, with a global audience of over half a billion fans. For cities, this opens up new ways to engage with young people and connect education, culture and the local economy.
In this next ESWAM webinar: “Game On, City Hall” we explore how municipalities embrace esports with smart policy and practical facilitation: from recognising esports in local sport and youth strategies to enabling venues, events and inviting community spaces. With voices from Katowice, the architect behind leading esports facilities in Hamburg and Utrecht and Copenhagen City Council, this webinar offers city representatives concrete insights on how to integrate the esports potential into the city.
June 4 | "TIME TO PLAY IT SMART" | BREDA
We experience a pressure on running sport facilities, both indoors and outdoors. Costs are rising, regulations are changing and expectations around accessibility, sustainability and community impact keep growing. For sport companies and municipalities, this creates a daily challenge: how do you keep these facilities running smoothly, financially sound and socially valuable at the same time?
Time to Play It Smart is an ESWAM event focused on one clear theme: using data to improve facility management. From swimming pools, sports halls and gyms to football pitches, hockey fields, athletics tracks and more spaces. Data can bring clarity to what is actually happening on and around your facilities: real usage, peak moments, capacity, catering, maintenance needs, staffing, energy and water consumption, user experience and commercial opportunities such as events, meetings or hospitality.
